the mirror
once upon a time lived a mirror.
with perfect carved corners, it dazzled golden rays all across the town.
soon, it grew older, and so grew its stains. the mirror realised it was losing its shine.
panic crept up like vines of ivy, and so the mirror took a frantic decision.
it found the nearest wall and sped towards it.
thus dawned the next morning.
the mirror walked on the street, trying to find new shards for itself.
as its eyes wandered around, they froze on the mirror across the street.
it gleamed a striking pink.
the mirror noticed how others would loiter around it, murmuring words of praise and envy.
the mirror thought of something extraordinary.
it ran to the nearest store, pointing at the pink mirror. “give me three shards of glass exactly that colour.”
the mirrored turned back and scanned the street. there stood another one, its glass tinted orange.
“give me that one too. and the blue one, and two of the painted ones, it must be archaic, but unique.”
with pride swelling in its chest, the mirror marched home.
the mirror sat and began joining the shards, but a problem arose. the shards did not fit together!
that wasn't a problem for the mirror. all it had to do was carve the shards until they forced themselves into place. and it did.
soon, it became an enthralling result of pinks, blues, oranges, and some art.
striding down the street, it caught the eyes and smiles exactly the way it wanted.
“so,” asked the pink mirror one day, “what did you look like before?”
as quick as the mirror opened its mouth to speak, it shut tight immediately.
it seemed to have forgotten.
it wondered, it frowned, it looked around for anything that could help remember.
the wall.
the mirror rushed across streets and trees until it stood before it once more. it searched the ground frantically, but the pavement remained spotless and bare.
the mirror had lost parts of itself.
days passed, and it could not find its shards.
then came a day when it headed to the store, hoping to find similar ones as it had before.
the mirror froze at the sight before it.
another mirror stepped out. its glass held the same stains the mirror once despised, except now, wreaths of flowers had been painted carefully around them.

oh now this is creativity. I loved what you did using the mirror as a north star to guide this whole thing :))
I loved this story when you started describing the different shards I kept picture stained glass as the end result. But I loved the imagery. As for the mirror what i gathered is that in the beginning it felt in order to be better it need different parts but in the end the mirror ended up missing the very thing it disregarded. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Even the parts that may be rusted or Chipped are necessary they tell a story and make you unique.
Very creative ! Thank you for sharing Arya. 🧚🏽✨🍯🪞
